Role Management Analysis Services
Whether an identity management system has been established or not, one of the most important needs of any company is Role Management. In terms of security, it is important to give people who are responsible for the system or application just enough authority to conduct their work properly. In real life, however, when a user is transferred to another division or promoted his or her authority increases. Unnecessary authorizations generally are not retracted. Role Management Analysis is conducted through the complementary application of two basic approaches:
- Top to bottom analysis: interviews are conducted with application owners to find out what role should be assigned to each person and what authorities should be assigned to each role.
- Bottom to top analysis: existing roles and authorities and the positions of those holding them are analyzed. Resulting patterns are analyzed to determine what roles are necessary and who currently fills them.
The results of these two analyses are evaluated together to find the most appropriate user-role-authority matches.
